Sea salt, produced by the evaporation of sea water bespeaks of a more natural state. While far from aiding the sodium content within the body, and therefore important to be regulated, sea salt has been known to benefit the body within moderate amounts, from the skin benefits, as a toner or a scrub, to asthma, due to its anti-allergenic properties. Sea salt’s therapeutic benefits, its presence of minerals and electrolytes which supplement the body, have become a more healthy and productive part of the diet, in small amounts giving it a credible name within the diet. Almost seen as a necessary component in the diet, with all the minerals that remain within it, sea salt has become a more productive element towards aiding the body’s natural functions.

Sea salt’s alkalising power may prevent high levels of acid within the body such as in the brain cells, blood, intestines, and general body cells, in which it is lauded for the generation of hydroelectric energy. This particular type of salt, unprocessed and original as it is, has been shown to be a natural antihistamine; assisting the body’s response to when the neurotransmitter is released, and allowing for a more comfortable lifestyle. Unprocessed sea salt may be a protector for ailments such as a runny nose or a cough induced by allergy, giving it a beneficial and productive aspect towards the diet; a natural help towards histamine in the body, aiding the nerve cell receptors and preventing the hormone from reaching its target site.

The electrolytes present within sea salt may be vital to the body as they send messages to the internal system and are necessary towards enzyme production when proteins are assembled in cells. Electrolytes and enzymes may be useful in digestion, liver, thyroid and adrenal health. Sea salt may also aid sore muscles due to hypotonic solutions being associated with inflammation in medical research. The osmotherapy within saline solutions may benefit medical conditions such as arthritis or joint ailments due to eliminating the excess water in joints. The savoury granules, refined from the sea, and untouched by human hands may assist joint and bone ailments from osteoporosis to arthritis.

Essentially, sea salt may aid water in staying out of cells, balancing the water within and out of the cells of the body and regulating the size and turgidity of those cells. Preventing dehydration in the body may be just one of the ways that sea salt works in the diet, allowing the kidneys to clear excess acidity and therefore filter out urine. Likewise, sea salt may aid sleep as studies have been shown for it to be a natural hyptonic, giving electrolyte balance in the brain and suppressed hormones, increasing the metabolic rate within the body. Likewise, this particular type of salt, with its bigger, clearer and crunchier crystals help and benefit the bodies cortisol levels, causing metabolism to rise and aids weight.

Unrefined salt, such as sea salt, has also been known to aid insulin uptake in the body which, essentially, may lower blood sugar levels. The cells in the pancreas become more sensitive to insulin with more salt in the blood, allowing the hormone to be released and causing homoeostasis in the body to occur at a faster, more efficient rate. The efficacy of sea salt in the diet to benefit blood sugar levels may be extremely productive towards the body.

Sea salt in the diet is being discovered, and more of the beneficial aspects of this particular salt are being researched. For the mean time however, the productivity of sea salt in the diet has become a thriving and health-centred issue; becoming a common and well-used commodity in households of the nation.
