Have you been to Winter Wonderland yet? Well, if you are planning a wonderful day out, this is the place to go, and this is the perfect guide for YOU!
As you set foot upon the Park Lane entrance to Winter Wonderland, which has been beautifully set up in Hyde Park, even the sight of the gate, which is fabulously Christmassy may amaze you.
There’s mistletoe, fairy lights, brilliantly bright and gleaming, an arch made of greenery, as if an entrance to a magical garden, however somehow better, with a gleaming sign reading “Welcome to Winter Wonderland”. After walking through the gate you will be greeted by the smell of a variety of delicious foods, such as: hamburgers, German sausages with sauerkraut, German styled pizza, fish and chips, sweets and a variety of bakery foods accompanied by the spicy smell of mulled wine and hot chocolate. Unmistakably Christmas, yum yum!
With rides to the right of you, games to the left of you, the food stalls pulling you forward as the delicious aromas of the food stalls become an irresistible temptation you’ll do well to make an initial choice. Walking towards the centre, your ears may be tickled by the amazing sounds of live bands and mixed DJs, surrounded by the ‘food glorious food’. The rhythm and the beat and the melody making you want to get up and dance. Great music will follow you throughout your time in Wonderland.
As you draw closer to the jam-packed middle, the fun really begins; the whole area is dedicated to game stalls, with the biggest prizes I have EVER seen. For the adults, there are crazy high rides and shooting games; for children, there are haunted houses, (oooohhhhh), Lycamobile Ice Skating Rink, the Magical Ice Kingdom, Zippos Christmas Circus and much more! You need to go to Santa Land and visit Santa. Santa’s very generous this time of year… presents galore! And then, you must go on the Giant Observation Wheel and see Winter Wonderland dressed up in lights.
Speaking of rides, there is definitely something for everyone: from an adrenalin rush to a simple Merry-go-round.). For the adrenalin seekers, there are the most stupendous rides: the Air Power Tower, which goes up gradually, HOWEVER plunges down with a wallop, the Star Flyer, which swings you about, rises and falls simultaneously. What excitement, what joy, all in one ride! Then you have the Wilde Maus, of a roller coaster! Definitely a ride for the thrill seekers!
Since Christmas is just around the corner, there are some original presents that you can buy at reasonable prices: jewellery); with something for everyone, stuffed toys; from traditional teddy bears to gingerbread men, handmade heavenly scented candleswoodcraft from toys to frames to original pieces of furniture, enough to make your imagination run wild, funny signs, to give my favourite as an example, “Coffee, chocolate and men, what do they all have in comme?… They’re rich and delicious!” The list goes on and on and on. And on ! You can definitely be ensuredthat there is a treat in store for you.
Would you believe that, on top of everything I have just said, that there are also prizes to be won. Better than any old prize; even better than that. You might get an iPad or 2 kg chocolate bars; there is the opportunity to win stuffed animals, blockbuster stars, ‘Minions’ from Despicable Me and many, many more…
Another great advantage – if you are still working until the early hours of the evening, Winter Wonderland is open until 9 30pm, ‘So you’re ‘busted’, parents!
Whether you are 8 or 18 or 80, you can all have a great time.
Winter Wonderland is wondrous and designed for all – everyone’s Christmas delight!!
Should you have been to Winter Wonderful, what your favourite attraction?
