Saturday 12 August 2017 is the United Nations International Youth Day, a day of celebration where all youth around the world are encouraged to come together for a certain cause. This year’s theme is ‘Youth Building Peace’ and there are events taking place all over the world to encourage all to bring this message to life.
Being a London-girl, I was interested to find out what was taking place over here in the UK and I think it’s probably the most exciting event of all because we have a pop song which is supporting International Youth Day this year, how cool is this! Twenty-two year-old, Scottish singer/songwriter, Jack Robertson has written a song called ‘Enough’ which conveys an inspirational message of ‘we’ve had enough, now we want peace’. By making a pop song, Jack aims to offer all something exciting to share, something which may have everyone repeating the lyrics over again; which may be a smart way of sending us all an important message. Jack aims to represent the voice of the world’s youth who simply want a world of peace for their generation.
Plus, bringing his message to life for the planet, Jack Robertson aims to deliver a live global webcast on International Youth Day, a free, global digital gig for everyone to share at: 3pm on 12 August at https://www.facebook.com/jack.robertson.35
Enough’ is a love song to the world. Depicting bridges burned, inflicted impairment and promises unfulfilled, it’s a metaphor of love on a challenging world; a plea enough is enough and it may be time to let go of what’s affecting us. A slice of catchy pop whipping and weaving it’s way around the fabric of Jack’s compelling vocals, ‘Enough’ was aimed to be written to grab instant attention, with an underlying message to the world for those who have ears to listen.
My friends and I love the new song from Jack Robertson and we thought about what we’ve had enough of in this world, what might we change to help us all to build peace? There needs to be more of good stuff happening in the world and we think our planet would be a better place if we had more:
Peace: Please let’s build a world where everyone is able to live in their own home town without having to run to other places for safety.
Smiles: Let’s turn a high-5 into a smile.
Safety: We want to do so many things, and being safe means we are able to always do them. Please give us more safety in this world so we are able to all walk around freely.
Happiness: We’re sure if we all made ourselves have a happy thought every morning before we leave the house, then there’d be a lot more happiness inside us all!
Jack Robertson shot a video for his song from his home town of Edinburgh because he thought peace needs to start from home. We agree with Jack and we think everyone may aim to radiate peace from within. So let’s start with a SMILE this International Youth Day. Go on, do it for us kids!
How are you able to achieve peace and happiness in the world?
