A Song for Support

All She Wants for Christmas new song out to support the homeless

Everyone should be in a house and with people at Christmas. As the UK dealt with a continuous pandemic, many have gone through the effects homelessness – cold, hunger, vulnerability,  and without a roof over their heads.

In this 50thanniversary year of Crisis at Christmas, Jamside Up feat. “Timeless Tim* and MC Burglar, release a song to help the homeless: ‘All She Wants For Xmas” is out now, and is a fundraising slice of reggae warmth, with every penny raised supporting Crisis at Christmas.

Tim Hain has loved music.  Spending a week in a band with Freddie Mercury, and jamming in a pub with guitar legend Jeff Beck, are among his more bizarre adventures. He was re-educated as the ‘token white’ member of The Black Theatre Co-op, touring with them and simultaneously playing lead guitar for top reggae artists such as Carroll Thompson, Winston Reedy and Tyrone Taylor.  Tim went onto to be known as ‘The King of Bleggae’, his show described by Blues In Britain magazine as ‘a breath-taking fusion of Blues and Reggae’.  Working on both sides of the Atlantic, Tim wrote with Grammy winning producer, Narada Michael Walden, and had his song ‘Cry For Love’ featured in ‘The Making of a Legend’; a Marley documentary made by Bob’s former girlfriend and photographer, Esther Anderson.  Tim recently revived his boyhood love of motor racing photography with the help of his first hero, legendary motor racing ace, Sir Stirling Moss.  The book, ‘Lap Of Honour’ was shortlisted for ‘Telegraph Illustrated Sports Book of the Year 2020’.  He is presently setting the book to music.

He became ‘Timeless Tim’ in 2020 to celebrate both his vintage, the timeless nature of the music he loves, and his belief in the unchanging nature of core human values.  Tim met MC Burglar, a gifted vocalist and free-style lyricist, 20 years ago whilst applying for a gig.  Carlton Webster was the then ‘venue manager’ and Tim got the gig.  They have been friends and collaborators ever since. The pair agreed raising funds for the homeless through music, was the most important track they would ever make.

Shrink-wrapped tightly around an uplifting reggae rhythm, the poignant lyrics depict the anguish of Christmas on cold winter streets – a melodic heart rending appeal to the fortunate amongst us to spare a thought, and a dime, for those without shelter. At a time when warmth and safety may be taken for granted by some, MC Burglar raps ‘A coin in her cup is never enough, and I know this could be me.‘ All She Wants For Christmas 2021’ was conceived and produced by Timeless Tim to raise much needed money for Crisis at Christmas.  Following a fire at his home a few years back, Tim and his family woke up on Christmas morning in a hotel room – never ‘home’, however, it made him aware many may be without a roof over their head this day.

“Since then, I’ve become increasingly aware of the growing homeless crisis,”  comments Tim.  “Two Christmases ago, on a high after a party, I was brought down to earth by the sight of a young woman begging,  hunched and alone in the Piccadilly rain. This lingering image inspired me to write ‘All She Wants For Christmas ’ with my sister, Kit (of Marshall Hain ‘Dancing In The City’ fame).”
