A fascinatingly novel all-digital art exhibition entitled The Science of Colour, launching this July, sees renowned LA-based photographer Tyler Shields broaden the limitations of producing and exhibiting art, using the Sony Xperia Tablet Z as his canvas.
In an exclusive collaboration with Sony Corporation, Tyler Shields will be showcasing new photographic images on Sony Tablet devices, allowing the show to evolve, develop and refresh each day that it is open to the public, a unique and progressive feature impossible to implement within a conventional art exhibition. The Tokyo-based Corporation, Sony, now a leading global innovator of audio, video, game, communications, and technology products, has chosen to collaborate with the established photographer to advance methods of exhibiting and viewing contemporary art.
Taking place at The Dray Walk Gallery in London’s Truman Brewery, the excitingly original exhibition aims to redesign the way in which art is produced, exhibited and viewed, making the art displayed far more variable in comparison to its painterly counterparts.
Continuing the visual investigation begun by Tyler Shields in his Chromatic photographic series, The Science of Colour foregrounds explosive colours and confident juxtapositions of tone and hues.
“I’m beyond excited to create my first all-digital exhibition” comments Tyler Shields, who is set to visit the UK to unveil the exhibition on 11th July. “Technology plays such an important part in stimulating the imagination, which is why working with Sony who produce amazing visual experiences was a natural fit; especially since that’s exactly what I aim to achieve in all of my photographs. Combining my love of colour with technology to display my photographs is really exciting and I’m very proud to be creating the exhibition.”
“Tyler’s unique vision is the perfect way for Sony to showcase the exceptional HD viewing experience you get from the Xperia Tablet Z in a visually engaging and contemporary way” explains Catherine Cherry, Marketing Director North West Europe for Sony Mobile Communications. “Attitudes to technology are constantly changing, as is consumers hunger for original and pioneering ideas. This is why Sony continually pushes the boundaries of design and innovation. The Science of Colour seamlessly reflects our heritage in colour and illustrates the best features of the Xperia Tablet Z, which is the only product that can do such beautiful art justice.”
The brave and innovative collaboration of Sony and Tyler Shields is most certainly set to change the ways in which art can be created, exhibited, circulated and viewed. Such pioneering attitudes towards an art exhibition will no doubt be worth a look.
