DERRY - new boy band bringing a fresh approach to music!

Introducing DERRY – fresh talent producing a hearty serving of great music that aims to bring audiences back to what really matters – music that’s worth listening to!  In doing so, the band aim to show us that the joy of music mirrors the great memories of our childhood; and they’ve combined both elements within their debut single.  As ‘Could I Be The One’ is set for release on 28 July (ahead of their first album which is scheduled for late Autumn), Derry target the over 30s with a reminiscent ‘wow factor’ as they bring the world’s No1 toy, Lego, to life in the outstanding video of the song.

For us, music is about total enjoyment of the sound and listening to good music should lift your spirits and make you feel like a child again,” explains front-man Louie. “We wanted to take audiences away from today’s media hype and remind them of the great feelings they had when they were younger, so we decided to make Lego the star of our first video because it’s everyone’s favourite childhood toy.”

And the creatively inspired video to ‘Could I Be The One’ is capturing increasing audience attention nationwide.  With an ingenious retro-stance, the video masterfully tugs on the reminiscent heart-strings of our childhood, bringing the glory of first-generation Lego to life in a romantic tale.  Zoomedia instantly snatched up the video for streaming across over 700 leisure centres, reaching a captive audience of millions, and Lego are currently in talks with the band over potential partnerships.

So who are the voices behind the video characters? DERRY is the baby of Northern Irish songwriter/producer Tim Hegarty. Having written for Gloria Gaynor, D:Ream, Worlds Apart (to name a few), Tim formed DERRY in 2013.  Based in Bristol, the band is consisted of five super-talented musicians.  Introducing: Loui Andrew George (Lead Vocals), Will Allen (Lead Guitar), Robert Grist (Bass), Mattia Collu (Drums), J Roberts (Keyboards) and Tim (on Acoustic Guitar). Playing a mix of Rock / Indie / Pop with big choruses and cracking lead riffs, and are already garnering media and corporate interest with their melodies and lyrics that ‘stick’ instantly.

Their debut single, ‘Could I Be The One’, was written by Tim and Martin Sutton (LeAnn Rimes/Backstreet Boys). Produced by Alex Pilkington at Session Rooms in Bath and mixed by Ali Staton (Madonna/Simply Red), the track is what the UK has been crying out for, a song that you want to listen to time and again and that you’ll relish singing along to.  Describing themselves as a mix between classic Eagles style songs fused with attention grabbing X-Factor vocals, the time is ripe for decent music of this caliber.  Plus, with over two albums worth of material ready and waiting, the boys are showing that they mean serious business on the UK music scene.

Lego may be a toy from our past, however for these boys it’s the first building block in a very solid future!
