How to start a band! Sourced credit- masterfile.com

Are you able to play a musical instrument or sing? Do you have any friends that might do so too? Well, then call up those friends and start a band! Here’s a helpful guide, so you may learn how:

1. Have a get-together with all the friends you want to have in the band!

2.Decide who’s going to play which instrument and who’s going to sing. Maybe you all have the ability to sing, maybe there’s a lead vocalist.

3.Find a practice room to rock out and practice your songs. Try doing this somewhere that is quiet so your neighbours or parents have a bit of silence!

4.The best part is always picking a name. It’s easy! Have each member of the band write a list of names they like, go through each band member’s list and ask for votes on which they think is the best. Once you’ve got your favourite five names, take a final vote to decide! If the vote is tied, put the names in a hat, and ask your parent to pick the winner! Remember, when thinking of names, look out for inspiration!

5.Once you’ve got your cool new name, start practicing your songs. Decide if you’re going to write them yourself or play a cover from an artist or band you all really like! Try putting your own style to your songs, such as rock or pop or maybe even a bit of classical! It’s good to be different!

6.Now you start designing your band’s logo or even T-shirts, so that if or when you become famous, your adoring fans may wear them at your concerts!

7.Everyone in the band should have their own style, so be sure to have some cool pop star names for each other, like ‘Fergie’ from the Black Eyed Peas (her real name is Stacey Ferguson) or Lady GaGa (her real name is Stefani)? Make sure your names are original, new and different, preferably connecting somehow with your real name or personality!

8.Make a video! Start by creating a set where it is going to be based, like your garden or even on your steps. Try setting it in a place that matches your song. Then sort out some costumes and hairstyles, you’ll all look great! Then sing-away on a camera (borrow this from your Mum and Dad or just use your mobile or laptop), and to make it look even better, have a go at some special effects to jazz it up!

9.Also go with your awesome new hit, try making a CD. Record and burn the song on to a blank CD, then design a cover, perhaps an epic picture of the band or your logo. Find an empty CD case, slide your picture in and WOW, you have your own recording of your new single with a rocking video to match!

Finally, ask around for a place to show the public your awesome new songs; you could even busk on the streets (check with your Mum and Dad first). Keep trying though and you might just end up on stage at the O2 arena!

When are you going to setup YOUR music band?
