“I’ve learnt that the most important thing about life is to be yourself. To be honest, true and just give everything your best shot. People need to keep changing so that they can get the best out of every day.” These are the wise words of fresh maverick Brit singer/songwriter, Mark Hole who releases his debut album, ‘People Change’ on 4 November.
The son of Universal Music mogul, Max Hole, Mark was weaned on the music industry from birth. He kept searching for guidance and for people to direct his career in the right way, but it swiftly hit him.
“I suddenly realised that if I was going to be a success, I needed to go this alone and avoid listening to others who were holding me back because of their own challenges. So one day I just quit. I sacked my management, released all of my music on Facebook and went off on tour with Tori Amos. I had changed, I was free and I was suddenly going places.”
One of the most prolific singer/songwriting talents that the UK has ever spawned – Mark Hole is a self-made artist whose nonconformist rebellion positions him as the most exciting maverick performers of our time. His debut single, ‘Torture Garden’ which is to bereleased on the same day as his new album (4 November) has already received critical acclaim following Mark’s live performance on Clive Anderson’s BBC Radio 4 show, ‘Loose Ends’. Mark has been described by media and celebrities as a musical cocktail of Rufus Wainwright, Robbie Williams, Ben Folds and Jeff Buckley all fused into one.
It was Mark’s support of Tori Amos on her 2011 European Tour that saw him really come into his own. As he wowed audiences with his super-charismatic performances, he garnered an instant and impressive fan base of thousands. Mark Hole defies anything that you’ve ever heard musically before; he rips-up genre boundaries, broaches controversial topics with his candid lyrics and possesses a voice that rips scars into the heart with its emotion.
Mark releases his debut album, ‘People Change’ as a bold and physical statement that demonstrates how a music artist morphs and changes throughout their journey towards success. “People Change is my first chapter, everything that I am and have been up until this point. I’ve called this album ‘People Change’ because I’m going to keep growing, expanding and developing my sound,” explains Mark.
The cream of the industry are now scrambling to work with Mr Hole, evidence by him recently working with the mighty Swedish songwriting production giants, Lionheart, the results of which will be unleashed upon us in 2014. Added to which, Mark has just returned from his invite to LA with another impressed Grammy Award Winner – producer Redone (Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj).
Mark Hole is truly a maverick of our time – a musical mastermind who has fire in his belly and a spark in his eye – watch him explode!
