Florida born singer Alison Mosshart and British guitarist Jamie Hince form a duo called The Kills and have returned with new music aiming at releasing a new LP in June this summer. The new material was recently shared on the band’s official website as well as social media Facebook and Instagram pages. The band had last released material in 2011 with LP entitled ‘Blood Pressure’, this new awaiting album aims at being their 5th studio record. Alongside the announcement of the band’s comeback, a new song named ‘Doing it to death’ was shared to the public in March and the official video is also now available for viewing on YouTube.

Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince formed The Kills in the early 2000s. They were both respectively playing within their own band when they crossed paths for the first time while both staying in London. The band formed when Alison Mosshart heard him play from the room she was staying at, he was rehearsing in the room above hers, this seemed to be the start of the journey they have since shared together. Their first LP is entitled ‘Keep on your mean side’ appears to have received a healthy response from the public.Their third LP ‘Midnight Boom’ may have been the one giving them more recognition within the indie rock landscape. A few of the songs from this record were used for various TV shows including the hit ‘Sour cherry’ which may be heard on one episode of New York based TV drama ‘Gossip Girl’.

The duo performed on the 4th of May a show at the venue named the London Village Underground located in Shoreditch, in East London which marked their first appearance promoting their forthcoming album in the UK. They have also recently performed in Germany and France including Berlin and Paris. They also performed at Californian desert based music festival Coachella which may have given the public a preview of what it is to be expected from their next record. They are currently promoting their new record, having given a few interviews since sharing their new work. A second single entitled ‘Heart of a dog’ has recently been shared to the audience and a video was also released which represents the second single of their upcoming record since the announcement of their comeback earlier this year.

Alison Mosshart aka VV has been involved in other musical and art projects alongside being a permanent member of The Kills. She has recorded a total of 3 studio albums with White Stripes frontman Jack White forming a band called ‘The Dead Weather’. The albums appear to have received success worldwide. The first one was released under the name of ‘Horehound’ in July 2009 and shortly followed by ‘Sea of Cowards’ inside a year later. In the summer 2015, their 3rd LP was released entitled ‘Dodge and Burn’. Mosshart has also embarked on an artistic career which saw her debuting an exhibition of her art in 2014 which included paintings and photographs.

The return of The Kills may represent an interesting summer ahead for followers of the band. The pair also aim at appearing at the British festival of Glastonbury which may add to the line up which was announced a few months back and which included performances from British singer Adele and rock band Muse headlining the event.

Tickets for the duo upcoming shows may be purchased on their official website.
